President Pastides To Be Officially Installed
The University of South Carolina will hold an investiture Friday, Nov. 21, for the installation of Dr. Harris Pastides as the university’s 28th president.   The ceremony, free and open to the public, will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Koger Center for the Arts. A reception will follow in the Koger Center lobby.

McLean Gets School Record, 'B' Cut in 50 Free; Strong First Day for Gamecocks
South Carolina senior Sharntelle McLean broke a 20-year-old school record in the 50-yard freestyle, grabbing a provisional NCAA qualifying time in the process, as the Gamecocks finished day one of the inaugural Gamecock Invitational with the men in second place with 226.5 points and the women in third . Fellow senior Kyle Cormier also posted a `B' cut time in the men's 200-yard individual medley.   More Info...

University of South Carolina head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley announced that Ieasia Walker (Copiague, N.Y. / Copiague) and Monique Willis (Savannah, Ga. / A.E. Beach) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University and play basketball for the Gamecocks. Both will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2009-10 academic year. The duo's signing prompted The Collegiate Girls Basketball Report to rank South Carolina's the ninth-best recruiting class in the country.   More Info...

Strong Showing for South Carolina in Thursday Prelims of Gamecock Invite
South Carolina put together a very strong opening session of the 2008 Gamecock Invitational on Thursday morning, advancing 20 swimmers to finals in their respective events. The 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle were contested in the morning session at the Carolina Natatorium.   More Info...  

Second-Half Comeback Falls Short for Gamecocks in 52-45 Loss to Tigers

South Carolina women's basketball staged a fierce second-half rally but could not push past Clemson in a 52-45 loss in the home opener at Colonial Life Arena Wednesday night. The Gamecocks (0-2) trailed the Tigers (2-1) by 12 points with six minutes left then ratcheted up the defense to spark a 7-0 run to get within five at the 4:18 mark. Clemson did just enough work on the glass to hold on down the stretch for its first win over South Carolina in four tries.   More Info...
